Drying is a central component of many production processes. It influences product quality, energy consumption and process speed in equal measure. Technologies and systems for efficient drying


Whether for paints, varnishes, coatings or other industrial applications, uniform and reproducible drying ensures consistent product quality and short throughput times. Uneven air flows or temperature deviations quickly lead to defects in the surface or structure. Venti Oelde drying systems ensure homogeneous heat distribution, controlled air flow and high energy efficiency – even under changing process conditions.

Floating web guidance for sensitive materials

For double-sided coated, open-pored or particularly thin materials, non-contact conveying and drying is crucial for product quality. Venti Oelde relies on flash dryer systems that precisely guide the web and ensure uniform temperature distribution.
The systems are precisely customised to the material, process speed and temperature profile. Modern flow and heat simulations are used to calculate heating and cooling curves to ensure optimum heat transfer and uniform drying.

The result: gentle processes, high product quality and reproducible results - even with sensitive materials.

Flexible modular systems for material widths of up to 2,500 mm

Venti Oelde’s hot-air drying systems are specifically designed for use in modern printing and coating lines. They ensure uniform and reliable drying of printing inks, varnishes, and coatings — even at high production speeds and with wide web widths.
At the heart of the systems is a high-performance hot air generation unit, which, depending on process requirements, is implemented using electric heating coils, gas-fired air heaters, or thermal oil heat exchangers. This allows process temperatures ranging from approximately 60 °C to 350 °C to be precisely set and constantly regulated. High-performance recirculating air systems deliver air flow rates of up to over 100,000 m³/h per drying zone, enabling intensive heat transfer and short drying times.
The systems are designed for material web widths ranging from approximately 500 to 2,500 mm and can be configured as multi-zone nozzle dryers with individually adjustable temperature and air volume. Flow-optimized nozzle arrays ensure uniform impingement on the material web, thereby guaranteeing consistent drying quality across the entire width.
In many processes, combining near-infrared (NIR) or infrared (IR) drying with convection drying can result in highly efficient hybrid systems that enable either very compact or very fast drying.
Thanks to their modular design, the drying systems can be flexibly adapted to different printing processes and production capacities. Options such as heat recovery, frequency-controlled fans, or integrated solvent monitoring (LEL monitoring) enable energy-efficient and safe operation.
The systems are used in gravure, flexographic, and coating lines for paper, films, and packaging materials, among others, and can be integrated into both new production lines and existing printing presses. 

The right solution for a thousand and one processes

Drying is as diverse as the products for which it is used. Venti Oelde develops customised systems for a wide range of materials and processes - from endless films and threads to pasty or lumpy products and metal foils that are dried, annealed or tempered.

Depending on the task, intermittent or continuous systems are implemented that support the material with belt conveyors, rollers or stenter frames. Each solution is developed in-house and is precisely tailored to the temperature profile, material properties and energy requirements.

Compatible modules based on a modular principle

According to the "plug and play" principle, Venti Oelde develops prefabricated compact units for printing systems together with its customers - for example for ink unit interdeck drying or bridge drying in flexographic printing presses. The systems are designed according to a modular principle, are standardised and can be flexibly expanded.

Different heating systems can be easily docked on. Controls and sensors are integrated and tested before final assembly of the presses. This reduces installation work, shortens commissioning times and ensures smooth workflows in the production process.
